Full-time (1.0 FTE) Middle School Cross Categorical Special Education Resource Teacher position for the 2026-2027 school year. This role educates students with a wide variety of disabilities in all academic areas and includes case management duties.
Responsibilities
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times.
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within District-provided resources.
- Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Encourage students to maintain classroom behavior standards and report compliance issues to administrators.
- Use varied instructional techniques and media tailored to student needs and physical limitations.
- Implement the District’s educational philosophy, goals, and objectives through instruction and action.
- Reading training/background preferred; strong knowledge of Response to Intervention and Common Core State Standards required.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Evaluate student progress regularly and maintain accurate, complete records as required by law and District policy.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and Board Policy.
- Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours when reasonably requested.
- Attend and participate in relevant faculty meetings and professional development sessions.
- Collaborate with staff on instructional goals, objectives, methods, and material selection.
- Share responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Maintain open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues and the community.
- Pursue professional growth through workshops, seminars, conferences, or advanced coursework.
- Develop, implement, and monitor student IEP needs in compliance with state, federal, and district requirements.
- Integrate assistive technology into instruction to meet individual student needs.
Requirements
- Illinois licensure with LBSI endorsement(s) required.
