About the role
The Critical Systems Technician I, HVAC works under the direct supervision of senior technicians and is responsible for assisting in the operations, maintenance, and monitoring of the data center and supporting infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform work in a thorough and neat manner in accordance with industry standards, codes, and laws.
- Aid in and gain experience from preventative maintenance, trouble diagnosis, routine and emergency maintenance and repairs with direct supervision to equipment including but not limited to:
- Air and water-cooled reciprocating chillers
- Centrifugal and screw package chillers
- Natural gas boilers and unit heaters
- Electric duct heaters
- Cooling Towers
- Pneumatic, DDC and Variable Frequency Drive controls
- HVAC air distribution systems, AHU’s, FCU’s, Fans and other devices used in air distribution.
- Variety of types of water pumps used in the HVAC industry.
- Maintain assigned equipment in a clean, first-class, efficient operating condition.
- Strive for continual improvement of technical skills through experience and trade literature.
- Exhibit a desire to learn and excel in the HVAC industry.
- Perform after-hours assignments as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Desired: Knowledge of refrigeration principles, working knowledge of basic electricity for HVAC and HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
- Required: Minimum of 1 year of HVAC service experience, 2 years preferred.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software.
- Certificates and Licenses: HVAC/R Servicing Certificate preferred, EPA refrigerant recovery certification type I and II required, type III preferred, Clear and valid Virginia/Maryland driver’s license.
- Pre-Employment Requirements: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Positions requiring driving must have an MVR that meets company and insurance carrier standards.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit; standing and walking is required.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Pay Range
$41,481 - $62,274 per year
Schedule
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
