About the role
The Critical Operations Technician I plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of data center facilities. This position involves installing, repairing, and maintaining IT, electrical, and mechanical equipment, as well as monitoring and assessing the performance of these systems.
Responsibilities
- Applies learning, knowledge, skills, and company policies to tasks related to IT, electrical, and mechanical equipment, controls, and operating systems.
- Maintains, monitors, and performs preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment; records readings and adjusts equipment as needed.
- Provides remote hands and eyes services for customers.
- Supports computer hardware and software configuration, including installing suite wall, cage material, ladder racks, fiber trays, cabinets, cabling, and customer equipment.
- Installs and repairs IT, mechanical, and electrical equipment as required; assists other team members with major repairs and maintenance.
- Processes work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance on critical, building, and site infrastructure.
- Consults with supervisors or team leads to order necessary tools and equipment.
- Creates and updates tickets within the established ticketing system to address customer calls, data center facility, network, and system-related alerts.
- Operates and monitors critical and non-critical system equipment and components to ensure safe and compliant operation.
- Responds to building emergencies and customer requests.
- Complies with departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Uses the Change Management Process to get approval for preventative and corrective maintenance and completes the maintenance along with necessary documentation.
Qualifications
- Two or more years of technical training, military training, or workplace equivalency.
- Background in IT, electrical, and/or mechanical fields.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- One or more years of work experience in data center environments, NOC, or equivalent BOD.
- OEM certifications such as Panduit, Corning, A+, Network+, BICSI Installer I.
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of work experience in data center environments, NOC, or equivalent BOD.
- OEM certifications such as Panduit, Corning, A+, Network+, BICSI Installer I.
- Knowledge of IT, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
