About the role
The Critical Operations Engineer I (COE I) plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and uptime of critical data center systems. This position involves operating, monitoring, and maintaining electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems to support facility operations. The COE I also performs routine tasks, responds to alarms, supports customer infrastructure projects, and collaborates with various teams.
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain critical electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems
- Respond to alarms and abnormal conditions, document findings, and track system performance
- Support customer infrastructure projects such as cage builds, rack and stack, overhead installs, power, and cabling
- Collaborate with senior technicians, contractors, and vendors on maintenance, upgrades, and expansions
- Manage trouble tickets, incidents, and customer requests
- Contribute to procedures, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts

- Comfortable using hand tools, electrical test equipment, and standard computer applications
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2-5 years of experience in the data center industry
- Proven hands-on experience with large commercial or industrial electrical and mechanical systems
- Strong understanding of data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure
- Working knowledge of BMS, PLC controls, and integrated monitoring systems
- Fiber and copper cabling installation, termination, and testing
- Proficiency with fiber optics, structured cabling, and telecommunications infrastructure
