About the role
The Critical infrastructure Operations Engineer will provide daily oversight of Bloomberg’s Data Center Facilities. Responsibilities include maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical, fire and life safety systems. The individual will be responsible for all aspects of Data Center operations including planned maintenance events, incident response, incident management, and escalation.
Requirements
- Engineering & Data Center Operations Core
- Review and document maintenance and critical operations using Method of Procedures (MOPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Root Cause Analysis, and Change Management.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for incident management and emergency response.
- Experience with reading and understanding Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) and Architectural Plans and Specifications.
- Supervise third-party contractors during specialized repairs to ensure they follow strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
- Manage and apply Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) processes.
- Support and train the Engineering personnel regarding all design, operations, and principles.
- Onsite attendance of critical incidents and maintenance events.
- A deep knowledge of data center environments, including utility systems, UPS systems, emergency generator systems, electrical distribution, chilled water systems, critical air handling/conditioning systems, pre-action systems, fire alarm/protection systems.
- Experience with BMS and EPMS systems.
- Experience with PLC or SCADA control logic.
- Other critical facility administration, overseeing internal staff and external third-party integrated facilities providers, overseeing both onsite and third-party vendors, including training programs and staff development.
- Review contracts, bid documents, and leveling sheets for third-party contractors and services.
- Oversee safety programs, protocols, processes, and procedures to ensure site safety and environmental compliance.
- Oversee training programs and overall staff development.
- Coordination with internal departments including Engineering, Security Technology and Operations, Corporate Technology, Network Operations, Global Life Safety, Procurement, Finance, and Senior Leaders.
- Aid in management of operational and capital improvement budgets and financial governance.
- Aid in management of vendor purchase orders, change management, and invoice processing.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in relevant Engineering and Critical Facilities Operations Role.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or applicable STEM degree with relevant experience.
- Relevant experience working and operating systems in critical environments.
- Experience in managing schedules and driving collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams to execute objectives.
Skills
- Deep knowledge of data center environments, including utility systems, UPS systems, emergency generator systems, electrical distribution, chilled water systems, critical air handling/conditioning systems, pre-action systems, fire alarm/protection systems.
- Experience with BMS and EPMS systems.
- Experience with PLC or SCADA control logic.
- Experience with design of data center specific and critical mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems including engineering calculations and specification development.
- Proficiency and understanding of Data Center Information Technology (IT) Systems including telecom networks, switches, routers, servers, storage, cabling systems.
- Experience with Project Management of Critical Infrastructure and Systems upgrades, replacements, and repairs.
- Knowledge of building communication protocols and equipment.
- Sustainability / LEED experience.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD.

Salary Range: $140,000 - $175,000 USD Annual + Benefits + Bonus
