About the role
The Master Critical Facility Technician monitors and maintains all building systems and mission critical facilities equipment and other equipment associated with the raised floor environment. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of HVAC equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the smooth, efficient, profitable operation of the assigned building project by ensuring the timely and accurate completion of all required work and by attaining the utmost in customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues.
- Supports operated data centers and is expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data center.
- Ensures that all work performed within mission critical space is done to high quality and without impact to internal/external customers.
- Utilizes safe working practices; can apply lockout/tagout, SDS, applies good housekeeping methods, etc.
- Utilizes basic computer applications.
- Understands and has mastered all types of mechanical and electrical systems and how each component within the system operates in conjunction with the other components and how that impacts the overall operations of the system as a whole.
- Provides technical expertise and assistance.
- Operates site facility equipment and systems without error to obtain maximum availability.
- Provides suggestions for continuous improvements in the areas of process improvement and cost reduction savings.
- Collaborates with outside vendors and oversees vendor maintenance.
- Responds to emergency situations and customer concerns.
- Ensures strict adherence to critical facility work rules and safety procedures.
- Works overtime as assigned and required.
Qualifications
- Eight (8) - ten (10) years of experience supporting mission critical environments with a high school diploma or GED.
- Current electrical/mechanical Journeyman’s license preferred.
- Hands on electrical or mechanical skill, and competence in the area of non-expertise (for example, electrical expertise with a mechanical competence, or vice-versa).
- Operate and perform both routine and emergency service on a variety of state-of-the-art critical systems.
- Mechanical and/or electrical OEM factory specific training or experience preferred.
- Knowledge and experience using basic computer applications.
- Active US Government Clearance and Polygraph.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
