Critical Facilities Technician
Day to Day
Maintaining critical environment protocols using MOP process.
Performing ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems, equipment, and components.
Proficiently maintaining, operating, and repairing all HVAC systems and CRAC units associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior repair, and related grounds, and production equipment as it pertains to assigned buildings.
Studying and becoming familiar with critical environments and the methods required to use various items of equipment in everyday activities, including building automation systems, fire/life safety systems, and other building-related equipment.
Performing assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as-found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations.
Completing hazard assessments as necessary, complying with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping, and ensuring safety of work areas.
Recognizing danger and safety hazards and proposing methods to eliminate them.
Maintaining compliance with state, county, or city ordinances, codes, or laws.
Completing all required safety trainings as scheduled.
Updating work order status in real time using CMMS systems like Corrigo for all work performed.
Performing vehicle safety inspections.
Escalating problems or issues to customers and managers in a timely manner.
Attending work and safety meetings as required.
Performing any and all other duties and tasks assigned.
Physical Work Requirements and Conditions
- Lifting up to 80 lbs.
- Frequently climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, and working/extending overhead.
- Working in adverse conditions (i.e., extreme cold, extreme heat).
- Driving for long periods of time.
- Climbing a ladder with a 300 lb weight limit while carrying a tool bag weighing approximately 20 lbs.
- Climbing a ladder up to 30 feet.
- Available for call-in work and performing other duties as required.
Required and Desired Experience and Technical Skills
- 3+ years of technical experience in all aspects of building engineering with a strong background in the technical aspects of packaged HVAC, plumbing, electrical, production equipment repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of overall system design and applications.
- Experience working in data centers/raised floor environments.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Universal EPA 608 Certification (or within 90 days of employment).
- CRAC (Liebert) maintenance and repair experience.
- Licenses as required by authority having jurisdiction.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
- Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration and HVAC, plumbing, or other craft skills.
