Critical Facilities Technician - 12 HR Night Shift

About the role
Assist in providing on-site field coordination, supervision, and project management support for the operation of a critical facility in West Des Moines, IA. This role involves managing mission-critical equipment, systems integration (life safety, mechanical, plumbing, and power), and ensuring facility uptime (99.9999%) while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing preventative and emergency maintenance schedules and procedures for building systems; identify back-up and replacement inventory needs for critical systems.
- Oversee and coordinate sub-contractors to ensure proper installation of equipment and delivery of maintenance services.
- Troubleshoot emergencies, equipment problems, and technical issues; organize and oversee resolutions.
- Provide ongoing technical support, management, and oversight of vendors as necessary.
- Complete daily, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual inspections and maintenance, including:
- Filter changes
- Generator operating tests
- UPS/ATS/STS transfer tests and operation
- Provide field technical support related to redundancy, reliability, and maintainability for the facility, focusing on current needs, long-term objectives, and strategic planning.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Ascent’s Change Control Program, including Method of Procedure (MOP), Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and Emergency Recovery Procedure (ERP) development.
- Assist the Critical Facilities Manager (CFM) and/or Assistant Critical Facilities Manager (ACFM) in:
- Administration of onsite Critical Facility Work Rules
- Vendor onboarding and familiarization
- Safety inspections and adherence to Ascent safety policies
- Administrative policies/procedures and Scope of Work standards
- Spare parts management and reporting development
- Life Cycle Replacement Strategy
- Support overall site operation of the facility.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as a Critical Facilities Technician or other relevant experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; BS or Technical Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Field or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of construction planning, mechanical or electrical systems, building controls, fire systems, and security systems.
- Knowledge of building automation systems.
- Electrical/HVAC certifications preferred.
- Technical proficiency in planning and scheduling, with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead coordination meetings.
- People skills, good judgment, and flexibility.
- Ability to work cooperatively with internal administration groups and effectively engage with customers and contractors.
- Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project; knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
