About the role

The role of Critical Facilities Engineer is available to Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard and Reserve Members, Military Spouses, Wounded Warriors, and their Caregivers. This role is "On-Site" at the location detailed in the job post.

What You'll Do

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on critical facility infrastructure
  • Maintain and evolve critical infrastructure that powers the digital world and delivers real impact for our customers, communities and society
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems
  • Support operation of systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, HVAC, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, fire and life-safety systems, and Building Monitoring Systems (BMS)
  • Execute maintenance procedures, work orders, circuit installations, and equipment repairs
  • Develop and follow maintenance documentation including MOPs, scripts, permits, and site logs
  • Cookordination and oversight of vendor activities to ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with Equinix standards
  • Identify operational risks, single points of failure, and opportunities for infrastructure improvement
  • Support infrastructure projects, equipment upgrades, and operational excellence initiatives
  • Collaborate across Operations, Engineering, and Security teams to ensure facility reliability
  • Participate in a 24x7 operational environment, including shift work, on-call support, weekends, holidays, and emergency response as required

Minimum Education Required

High School/GED

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

  • Experience working in facilities, industrial operations, manufacturing, military, building engineering, mission-critical environments, or data centers
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, controls, or building systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience following operational procedures and safety practices
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as climbing, bending, and working in equipment spaces with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data center or mission-critical facility experience
  • Experience with UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers, CRAH/CRAC systems, BMS, or EPMS
  • Trade school, military technical training, apprenticeship, or engineering-related education
  • Electrical, HVAC, mechanical, or facilities certifications

Career Levels

  • Engineer III: Developing technical expertise while performing routine maintenance and operational activities under guidance
  • Engineer IV: Independently performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and incident response activities with limited supervision
  • Engineer V: Serves as a technical leader on shift, resolves complex infrastructure issues, and mentors less experienced engineers
  • Engineer VI: Recognized subject matter expert responsible for advanced troubleshooting, operational leadership, complex projects, and strategic infrastructure improvements

Pay Range

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are: United States - DA11 Dallas : 46,400 - 69,600 USD / Annual
