Job Summary and Responsibilities
Critical Care Clinical Nurse Educator
As our Critical Care Clinical Nurse Educator, you will be instrumental in elevating the skills of our critical care nursing team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care in our intensive care units. Every day you will develop and deliver educational programs, provide direct bedside clinical mentorship, and implement evidence-based practices to equip our critical care nurses for the complex and high-stakes environment of intensive care. You will be expected to guide clinical practice according to policies, procedures, and the State Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive educational programs, in-services, and competencies for critical care nursing staff, encompassing new hire orientation, ongoing professional development, and specialized training (e.g., advanced hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, CRRT, cardiac surgery recovery).
  • Provide direct bedside clinical mentorship and coaching to critical care nurses, assessing educational needs, identifying knowledge gaps, and fostering critical thinking and clinical judgment in rapid assessment, intervention, and stabilization of critically ill patients.
  • Implement and evaluate evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines within the Critical Care Unit, ensuring adherence to national standards (e.g., AACN, SCCM), best practices for patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as a clinical expert and resource for critical care staff, guiding them through complex patient cases, troubleshooting challenges, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the ICU.
  • Collaborate effectively with critical care leadership, intensivist physicians, ancillary staff, quality improvement teams, and other educators to identify educational needs, address performance gaps, and contribute to department-wide strategic goals.
  • Facilitate staff compliance with mandatory education, certifications, and licenses, tracking progress, and maintaining accurate records of educational activities to support professional development and regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Required Education:- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Completion of Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) within 5 years of start date
  • Required Experience:- Minimum three years of critical care nursing experience
  • LICENSURE: Active Registered Nurse multi-state compact license in good standing to practice in North Dakota
  • Working knowledge of critical care nursing practice, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, adult learning principles, and current evidence-based practices in intensive care medicine
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certifications within the orientation period and meets re-certification as required
  • Good communication skills necessary for constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, and medical center staff
  • Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among staff, between other disciplines, departments, families, visitors, and patients
  • Maintains confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with an emphasis in Education, Leadership, or Clinical Specialty
