Essential Job Functions
- Receives and triages calls sent to Behavioral Health Hub from MetroSafe call takers.
- Provides crisis and suicide intervention over the telephone to callers needing emergency/crisis assistance.
- Identifies and suggests appropriate organizations and service providers to meet callers' needs using provided database.
- Connects caller with mobile crisis response when appropriate.
- Makes follow-up interventions with the individual.
- Determines appropriate level of care during the crisis and arranges referrals.
- Works collaboratively with law enforcement, families, other county departments, schools, acute care services providers, and other community resources to coordinate appropriate crisis resolution and referral.
- Communicates pertinent information on a timely basis to persons in crisis, MetroSafe call takers and dispatch, LMPD, SCS, and any other appropriate parties while also preserving the dignity and privacy of the person in crisis as much as possible.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including responding to emergency coverage needs.
- Facilitates a culture of openness and collaboration to ensure all team members are providing accurate, quality, crisis assistance, including accurate documentation.
- Attends and participates in staff and team meetings.
- Utilizes person centered and trauma informed approach to each interaction.
Education
- Associates degree required
- Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Human Services, or a related field of study (preferred)
Experience
- Minimum of six months’ experience in social services.
