Crisis Therapist (PRN/As Needed)

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and inpatient psychiatric evaluation as part of the diagnostic process, ongoing service provision, and/or crisis intervention, including:
  • Identifying individual needs and diagnosing substance use and/or mental health disorders
  • Assessing individual risk for suicide and other safety-related concerns; determining the need for medication evaluation and referral
  • Assessing individuals under the influence of substances or experiencing substance withdrawal and supporting stabilization options or in-house social detoxification services
• Interpret and communicate relevant information to individuals, families, and other stakeholders with the ability to communicate effectively under stress and in a fast-paced environment
• Provide joint response in the field working with law enforcement in Riley County to de-escalate situations and assist in triage of the most appropriate level of care referral; must have the physical capacity to respond to calls at any location and be able to drive a company vehicle
• Aid in access to recommended services such as inpatient hospitalization, substance abuse services, outpatient therapy, Adult/Youth Community Services, and other psychiatric services as needed
• Complete intakes for clients admitted to the Crisis Stabilization Unit as needed to aid with closing the loop on accessing additional services upon discharge
• Complete other specialized evaluations as trained (e.g., Comp Evals, PAR/CBST)
• Respond to community situations as trained to provide Critical Incident Support
• Complete involuntary assessments as needed for those meeting that level of care need
• Attend court hearings for involuntary assessments completed; hearings are held with little notice within 72 business hours of assessment submission to the courts
• Meet regularly with adult clients admitted to CSU to aid in discharge planning
• Meet and comply with all administrative and clinical documentation requirements for clinical staff
• Attend and actively participate in clinical supervision
• Complete and stay up to date on all State of Kansas required trainings and requirements for the position
• Perform all other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management personnel
