About the role
The Living Room offers a unique approach to supporting individuals experiencing mental health crises. It provides a welcoming, accepting, and calm environment where Crisis Support Specialists like yourself can offer advocacy, information, and peer support.
Responsibilities
- Engage guests in conversation to understand their stories, interests, and strengths.
- Model coping strategies and help guests develop their own crisis recovery plans.
- Link guests with supportive services for after their crisis.
- Greet guests and learn their names to encourage them to take the lead in their recovery path.
- Prepare and serve food for guests and maintain the space.
Requirements
- Lived experience of mental health recovery.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong writing skills.
- Good time management and organization.
- At least 21 years old.
- Work assigned schedule: Saturday 11:00pm - 7:30am.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate required.
- Higher education in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field preferred.
- Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) preferred.
Skills
- Current trends in the mental health field.
- Evidence-based practices.
- Supervision for CRSS certification.
- Reimbursement for testing and application fees.
