Crisis Specialist
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Responsible for providing face to face, phone, and telehealth crisis response and assessment services to those individuals who are experiencing any mental health crisis. Provides support and linkage to other area resources with follow up services to individuals in crisis and their families. Represents Centerstone in a professional manner when interacting with external entities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide coverage of crisis service beyond scheduled work hour/shifts and as assigned by crisis service supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of all contacts and enter all data in a timely manner.
- Document client’s follow-up needs for Team follow-up.
- Deescalate crisis situations as needed.
- Thoroughly assess risk of harm to self or others and document a plan to assure safety.
- Make appropriate referrals for least restrictive treatment possible to ensure psychiatric needs are being met.
- Respond to calls promptly.
- Create an atmosphere of cooperation with Centerstone departments, community agencies, mental health consumers, and the public at large.
- Attend all team meetings, clinical supervision, and complete online trainings as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person, and virtual methods.
- Demonstrate knowledge and competency in the utilization of Centerstone programs and other community resources.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention skills.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree required. Experience equivalency may be considered in place of education.
- Experience: Two years of related work or related college experience regarding substance use, recovery, crisis work, social work, or social services field preferred.
