About the role
The Lourie Center seeks to hire an experienced Crisis Intervention Technician for our Therapeutic Nursery Program. This program focuses on children’s social and emotional development, serving those with social and emotional delays, trauma histories, aggressive behaviors, and other needs.
Responsibilities
- Maintains all student environments, using appropriate de-escalation techniques to address disruptive behaviors.
- Strategically applies verbal and nonverbal de-escalation techniques, maintaining a patient and respectful attitude.
- Proofreads and ensures accuracy of Behavioral Intervention Data Sheets, obtaining appropriate signatures and making copies for parents/guardians.
- Communicates with parents/guardians to resolve concerns about behavior communicated through data sheets.
- Reviews digital footage of crises for training, troubleshooting, and staff development.
- Performs appropriate restraint techniques or removes students from the environment as needed for de-escalation.
- Communicates with transportation staff regarding behavior on the bus and evaluates safety plans.
- Interacts with classroom staff, social workers, and leadership team during crises.
- Aids in classrooms when other staff members are absent.
- Serves as a crisis intervention technique trainer.
Qualifications
- Associates degree or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in a program for individuals with behavioral and/or emotional needs.
- Basic CPI must be completed within 7 calendar days from hire.
- Advanced CPI must be completed within 60 days from hire.
Pay
$20.07 - $26.42 per hour
