About the role

The Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS) plays a crucial role in providing advanced skills in trauma-informed crisis intervention and de-escalation, along with monitoring safety and security.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a therapeutic, calming, recovery-based, and pro-active presence in the program.
  • Assist leadership with safety drills, safety protocols, and facility-related initiatives.
  • Model and teach skills for developing positive relationships and negotiating conflict.
  • Support families and youth in conflict or crisis while onsite, ensuring the safety of persons served, employees, and the facility.
  • Avoid performing typical security guard roles; instead, provide a calming presence and engage in supportive activities.
  • Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies, using medical code protocols like calling a code, administering naloxone, and providing CPR/first aid.
  • Ensure the maintenance of program sites to minimize fire hazards and report any concerns to senior leadership.
  • Transport individuals to/from CBHC and the CCS site using agency or personal vehicle.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer fluency, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Preferred valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct care or similar role in a behavioral health and/or medical setting.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and de-escalation skills.

Qualifications

  • BA degree preferred.

Skills
