About the role
This position supports a multidisciplinary team providing person-centered, trauma-informed behavioral health services in a 24-hour facility.
Responsibilities
- Supports the delivery and quality of individual care through clerical, clinical, and technical functions.
- Familiarity with Item V (Crisis Service Standards) of the HHSC Performance Contract and related Texas Administrative Codes and Health and Safety Codes.
- Observes and documents Q15 safety checks at each interval in real-time.
- Emotionally supports patients, remains calm and professional, and uses good interpersonal skills to defuse volatile situations.
- Safeguards patients' personal belongings during the admission process and documents accordingly.
- Monitors patients, listens to their concerns, records observations, and reports unusual behavior to mental health professionals.
- Competent in checking vital signs and timely documentation in the EHR.
- Coordination of admissions, completion of Crisis Center Admission documents with 100% accuracy.
- Answers inbound telephone communications and directs calls appropriately.
- Updates Census and bed boards as necessary to reflect individuals on the CRU and EOU, as well as inbound admissions and discharges.
- Scans medical documentation into the EHR to maintain the integrity of medical records.
- Displays strong critical thinking and analytical skills, offering solutions based on research, sound clinical judgment, and policy.
- Identifies and navigates challenges to accomplish assigned tasks, notifying supervisors when solutions are unattainable.
- Encourages collaboration, maintains healthy boundaries, and fosters positive relationships within the team.
- Shares ideas, techniques, and clinical expertise with team members, willing to explain and teach information to others.
- Models appropriate behavior for other team members, interns, and students.
- Performs other duties as instructed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, with some college preferred.
- CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
- Behavioral Health Tech preferred.
- One year experience working in a mental health setting.
- Great organizational and communication skills.
- Professionalism and ability to prioritize workload and responsibilities.
- Clerical responsibilities including answering incoming calls and scanning documentation into EHR.
- CPR certification required.
- SAMA certification required (offered during new hire orientation).
- Assists Mental Health Technicians in complying with Lifepath Systems policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Strong organizational and communication skills.

- Clerical responsibilities such as answering incoming calls and scanning documentation into EHR.
- CPR certification required.
- SAMA certification required (offered during new hire orientation).
