Criminal Justice - Full-Time, Temporary, Non-Tenure Track Visiting Assistant Professor

About the role

The primary responsibility of this position is teaching a variety of courses for the School of Criminal Justice. The successful candidate should be able to teach a broad range of courses from introductory undergraduate to graduate level. Service and scholarly activities are standard expectations for this position.

Responsibilities

• Teaches, advises, and mentors students
• Evaluates student performance
• Maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies
• Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers
• Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty
• Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested
• Prepares departmental reports as requested
• Teaching, research, department/school, college, and university service are expected

Requirements

• An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Sociology is required.
• A doctorate in a related field will be considered (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).
• ABD candidates with a clear dissertation defense date will be considered.

Qualifications

• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Practical experience in the criminal justice system and the demonstrated ability to participate in academic research are desirable.

Pay

The position is a full-time, temporary, non-tenure-track visiting assistant professor position.

Schedule

The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.
