Criminal Justice - Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor

About the Role

Teaches, advises, and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works collaboratively with colleagues and professional peers, participates in university meetings, and serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports and engages in teaching, research/scholarly activities, and service at the department, college, and university levels. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position.

Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of courses for the School of Criminal Justice, ranging from introductory undergraduate to graduate level, with a focus on policing, legal, and investigative topics.
• Contribute to curriculum development and program revisions.
• Teach 12 credit hours per semester in various instructional formats (in-person, hybrid, online).
• Participate in a statewide outreach initiative to the Oklahoma criminal justice community.
• Engage in scholarly activities and service to the institution.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate degree from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, or a related field (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).
• ABD candidates with a clear dissertation defense date will be considered; if the doctorate is not obtained by the time of employment, the position rank will change to Instructor.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching, commitment to research/scholarship, and service to the institution.
• Practical experience in the criminal justice system and the ability to participate in academic research are desirable.

About the Department

The School of Criminal Justice is housed within the College of Liberal Arts and offers three undergraduate programs and two master’s programs, serving approximately 500 students.
