Criminal Intelligence Analyst
About the role
The Utah Statewide Information & Analysis Center (SIAC) offers a career path in criminal justice and intelligence fields. In this role, you will provide investigative support to protect Utah's diverse communities.
Responsibilities
- Perform statistical and intelligence analysis using analytical tradecraft and best practices.
- Analyze, summarize, and review data; report findings, interpret results, and make recommendations.
- Respond to requests for service in a timely manner.
- Write or draft raw and finished intelligence reports, articles, or related material based on research, investigation, or analysis.
- Examine national security-related threats impacting the State of Utah, such as terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking, gang activity, or targeted violence.
- Develop conclusions and recommendations for detection, deterrence, disruption, and mitigation.
- Participate in working groups or teams or other related assignments as needed or directed.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate skills in intelligence analysis.
- Demonstrate skills in critical thinking.
- Demonstrate skills in social media research and analysis.
- Use databases for entering data, searching, and exploiting information and developing intelligence to inform decision-makers.
- Create spreadsheet tables and statistics.
- Create and present analytic reports.
- Demonstrate experience in supporting law enforcement investigations and task forces.
Additional Requirements
- Willing and available to travel both in-state and out-of-state, including overnight stays when necessary.
- Pass an intelligence analysis training course (based on previous training completed before SIAC employment).
- Attend subject matter expertise development training for this position.
- Complete a SECRET National Security Clearance submission packet (if clearance is not currently held by the successful candidate).
Pay
Salary range: $30.00 - $37.86 per hour.

About the Agency
The Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) is comprised of 13 divisions and bureaus, including the Utah Highway Patrol, Division of Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, Driver License division, Statewide Information and Analysis Center, State Bureau of Investigation, State Fire Marshal, Highway Safety Office, Communications, State Crime Lab, Bureau of Criminal Identification, Peace Officers Standards and Training, and the DPS dive team, aero bureau, CERT team, and Public Protection Unit. The DPS employs more than 1,500 state employees stationed across Utah.
