About the role

ViaPath is seeking a Criminal Intelligence Analyst to provide direct support to corrections investigations staff. In this critical on-site position at our client's facility in Raleigh, NC, you will assist in developing actionable intelligence within the facilities or approved outside law enforcement agencies. The role requires a team-oriented individual capable of multitasking with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data to establish trends within the facility and potential areas of interest
  • Assist facility investigations using specialized software for data mining and link analysis
  • Leverage database query languages (e.g., SSMS) and external data mining languages (e.g., Python) to interact with data
  • Review and listen to offender telephone calls
  • Establish a fundamental understanding of the facility’s operations, policies, procedures, and available data sources
  • Demonstrate understanding of investigative and intelligence processes, including the intelligence cycle
  • Proactively develop intelligence to assist in accomplishing facility objectives and mission, if directed
  • Submit detailed reports to the facility regarding intelligence findings
  • Provide regular reports to superiors outlining level of support and benefit to the facility
  • Provide guidance and training to facility staff
  • Fulfill requests for call recordings or other related data as authorized
  • Participate in court or other administrative hearings
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and meticulous attention to detail
  • Develop expertise in specialized areas such as OSINT, human trafficking, digital forensics, criminal organizations, fraud, probation, and parole

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Criminal Justice, Security and Intelligence, or a Business-related field preferred; equivalent experience or a combination of education/experience will be considered
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience conducting analysis aligned with the intelligence cycle (planning, collection, organization, analysis, reporting, and feedback integration) or at least two years of substantial criminal investigative experience
  • Ability to develop a fundamental understanding of intelligence processes in a correctional environment, including institutional operations and criminal procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prepared to testify in court or other administrative hearings as needed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to learn ViaPath and third-party software applications within the first six months of hire
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with an interest in conducting analysis and reporting findings
  • Ability to learn database query languages and external mining query languages to build and run custom algorithms
  • Experience with SSMS and Python preferred
  • Ability to properly manage confidential information
  • Fluency (written and verbal) in English is required; fluency in Spanish is desired
  • Experience or expertise in OSINT, human trafficking, digital forensics, criminal organizations, fraud, or probation and parole preferred
