Criminal Financial Investigator (Sports Betting) - Division of Gaming

About the role

The Division of Gaming within the Colorado Department of Revenue (CDOR) seeks a Criminal Investigator IV to conduct complex background and financial investigations of individuals and businesses seeking gaming licenses in Colorado. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in regulatory environments, particularly in financial investigations and criminal investigations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct complex financial investigations, analyzing capital structures and identifying potential claims to company assets.
• Investigate individual owners and company management to assess their suitability for gaming licenses.
• Prepare detailed reports and present findings to the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission.
• Conduct criminal investigations and enforce regulatory violations.
• Coordinate multi-jurisdictional and multi-national investigations.
• Provide cross-training to division staff and present investigative findings to leadership and the Commission.
• Work nights, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays with on-call status.
• Must be able to qualify and maintain qualification with a firearm and maintain certification in arrest control techniques.

Requirements

This position requires a minimum of 8 years of full-time professional investigative/financial experience in a regulatory environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additionally, a current valid Colorado POST Certification is required.

Qualifications

• Education and experience in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, criminology, criminal justice, or a related field.
• Proven experience in complex financial, fraud, AML, or business-related investigations.
• Ability to work independently, cooperate with others, and accept supervision.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
• Knowledge of the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Act of 1991 and relevant state, local, and federal laws.
• Ability to interpret and apply relevant laws and regulations consistently.
• Experience with arrest control techniques and firearms.

Pay
