Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in court, presenting evidence and arguments as appropriate to defend the client's rights and interests.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research to develop defense strategies and build compelling cases.
  • Manage all phases of the criminal defense process, from investigation, plea bargaining, trial to sentencing and appeals.
  • Negotiate with prosecutors to arrange for reduced charges or lesser sentencing.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, pleas, and appeals.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times, upholding the highest ethical standards.
  • Regularly communicate with clients, providing updates, advice, and guidance throughout the legal process.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in criminal law and jurisprudence.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Wisconsin State Bar and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Criminal Defense Attorney or similar role.
  • Proven trial experience, with a strong record of successful defense strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of criminal law, court procedures, and rules of evidence.
  • Proficiency in legal research and legal writing, with the ability to draft clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills, with the ability to advocate effectively for clients.
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong case management skills, with the ability to handle a large caseload efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and court personnel.

Pay

$95,000 - $125,000 per year
