Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Operates and maintains a variety of equipment, including but not limited to tractors, backhoes, front-end loaders, lawn mowers, bush hogs, saws, mechanical tools, truck, lift, and carpentry tools.
- Performs daily grounds and facility maintenance, such as mowing, trimming, edging, weed control, trash collection, and general cleaning.
- Affords assistance in the inspection of parks, community gardens, playgrounds, pool, trails, spray grounds, and facilities to identify maintenance or repair needs.
- Conducts repairs on irrigation systems, playground equipment, fencing, signage, and other infrastructure.
- Performs light carpentry, painting, debris and tree removal, and other general repair tasks as needed.
- Assists in preparing facilities and equipment for special events, programs, and seasonal activities.
- Completes emergency maintenance and repairs when required.
- Conducts regular inspections of assigned vehicles and equipment; reports or performs minor maintenance and repair work to ensure safety and functionality.
- Participates in training and safety meetings.
- Works occasional evenings, weekends, special events, as needed.
Typical Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One to two years of experience in grounds/facility maintenance, landscaping, or equipment operation preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required.
- Valid Pesticide License preferred but not required.
- Obtain within 6 months: CPR, First Aid, AED Certification, Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certificate (CPSI).
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed outdoors and indoors with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Requires physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor, lift up to 50 lbs, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- May involve contact with hazardous materials, tools, or situations requiring strict adherence to safety guidelines.
