About the Role
Responsible for the day-to-day work of a landscaping crew, including its work schedule, job assignments, plants and materials, equipment and power tools, cost effectiveness, work quality, training, and safety. Ensures that all assignments are implemented and completed, sets an example for all crew members, and oversees safe loading and driving of vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Supervise assigned laborers and ensure their compliance with all work orders, company policies, regulations, and work assignments.
- Ensure crew readiness for each daily work assignment, including crew preparation, truck, trailer, and motorized equipment operation, power and hand tools, and job materials.
- Arrive at work ready and fully prepared to leave the shop promptly at the assigned time.
- Ensure safe, legal, and proper loading, unloading, and driving of trucks.
- Cultivate and maintain a positive attitude and proactive work style.
- Motivate and work with assigned crew members as a team; build and maintain company-wide morale.
- Complete all assigned tasks and daily work orders as directed.
- Work with the crew to ensure the timely, safe, and cost-effective completion of all assignments.
- Ensure that work meets or exceeds all company standards and complies with company policies and procedures.
- Use good judgment to take initiative in correcting problems that may occur.
- Attend classes and seminars to develop leadership and technical skills and training.
- Follow daily work orders from the Division Manager or Supervisor and confirm a thorough understanding of all assignments.
- Secure, organize, and safely transport all equipment, tools, and materials required for each job.
- Work with laborers loading and off-loading all equipment, tools, and materials from vehicles to ensure safe staging, use, and storage at a client's property and in the company yard.
- Understand and operate all equipment and tools safely and in accordance with manufacturers' operating instructions.
- Wear all personal protective clothing and equipment as required by the company and in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Report work progress, problems, and needs to the appropriate supervisor throughout the day.
- Report safety hazards on the job site to the Division Manager or Supervisor.
- Report personnel problems to the appropriate supervisor in a timely fashion.
- Report vehicle, equipment, and tool maintenance and repair needs to the appropriate supervisor in a timely fashion.
- Interact with clients on a regular basis as requested.
- Respond to all communications from management in a timely manner.
- Ensure that each job site is left clean when the crew departs.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of prior work in the landscaping industry.
- Supervisory or leadership experience.
- Clean driving record.
- Willingness to learn English.
- Strong preference for candidates with hands-on landscaping experience.
- Bilingual is a plus.
