Crew Supervisor

Position Duties

These tasks represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

Transports inmates to and from the Jail Complex.
Receives work assignments; prepares crew assignment sheets and assigns work.
Assists with establishing safety standards for assigned work area.
Assists with the planning of projects.
Supervises and controls inmate workers; monitors for difficulties and intervenes if necessary.
Assures inmates are following rules and procedures; assures all inmates are accounted for and contained in appropriate area.
Trains inmates in work methods, use of tools and equipment, and relevant safety precautions.
Prepares forms, logs, and reports documenting crew activities.
Attends meetings to exchange information; attends in-service training.

Requirements

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Requires a Florida Driver's License (must maintain for duration of employment).
• Requires a minimum of six (6) months of supervisor experience.
• This position requires successful completion of the Sheriff's Office pre-employment medical certification.

Qualifications

Regular, dependable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.

Skills

Requires ability to supervise inmate "trustees" on a daily basis outside the Jail Facility.
