Crew Leader - Underground (Preco)
About the role
The Underground Crew Leader position is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical underground distribution systems. This role involves supervising crew members, troubleshooting problems on underground circuits, and performing rigorous physical labor.
Responsibilities
- Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized underground work.
- Supervise and train crew members in safe and productive work procedures.
- Conduct pre-job or tailgate briefings.
- Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
- Comply with company reporting procedures and complete required paperwork.
- Coordinate and inspect the work of crew members.
- Identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
- Understand and apply grounding procedures.
- Understand how to safely operate equipment.
- Understand how to phase out a line using phasing sticks.
- Plan safe work based on a job print or work order.
- Understand sloping and shoring requirements.
- Able to properly ask for and take line clearances.
- Understand line protection devices.
- Able to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE.
- Able to identify and locate puller and tensioner setups.
Requirements
- Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
- Possess a CDL and demonstrate safe driving.
- Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
- Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
- Willing to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
- Willing to work over-time when requested.
- Willing to work outside of the normal work schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required for the position.
Physical Demands
- Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
- Exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites.
- Occasional exposure to loud noise levels in the work environment and job sites.
- Performing tasks in outside weather conditions.
