Responsibilities
- Assist Foreman in training and instruction on all aspects of landscape grounds management services
- Digging, planting, raking, watering and clean up of landscapes
- Load and unload heavy equipment and planting materials from trucks
- Cleaning up company-owned equipment and tools at the end of the day
- Safe operation of various equipment including mowers, tillers, edgers, string trimmers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, backpack sprayers, blowers, and hand tools
- In the absence of the Foreman, or as directed, plan, coordinate, and collect equipment and materials each day
- Participate in crew and department general and safety meetings
- Prepare timesheets and other daily paperwork as required by the company
- Drive company-owned vehicles and transport crew members on routes
- Maintain on-site relations and communications with clients, contractors, and subcontractors
- Monitor and maintain irrigation controllers (changing times, replacing heads, etc.)
- Help in other divisions such as maintenance or floriculture as needed
Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a routine basis
- Ability to bend and stoop on a continual basis
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to work around bees, poison ivy, pollen, thorns, and other environmental risks
- Wear appropriate work attire including work boots, Bland landscaping uniforms, and protective gear
- Practice safety with chemicals and equipment
- Have good communication skills and the ability to motivate others
- Be willing to obtain a FL pesticide applicator’s license
- Hold a valid FL Driver’s license and have a good driving record
- Pass a criminal background check
- Comply with Bland’s policies and procedures
