About the role
The position involves independently performing recurring and regular work in accordance with established policies, procedures, and practices. It requires leading and participating in the work of the housekeeping crew responsible for the GICC and the Arena.
Responsibilities
- Identifies, selects, and applies appropriate guidelines and procedures; interprets precedents.
- Trains staff and works with employees to correct deficiencies.
- Oversees and inspects work of assigned crew; ensures timely completion of tasks.
- Reviews and coordinates with Event Coordinators for proper event cleaning requirements; organizes and directs housekeeping staff.
- Responds to emergency requests for service.
- Operates and trains others on the use of cleaning equipment.
- Ensures equipment is stored safely and in the proper location.
- Completes daily inspections of the GICC to ensure assigned tasks are completed.
- Orders and maintains adequate cleaning supplies.
- Performs a full range of cleaning duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of event cleaning procedures and use of chemicals.
- Knowledge of safe work practices.
- Ability to oversee and train staff.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks continuously.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a clean area.
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekdays and weekends.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships and communicate with diverse communities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and understanding of organizational structure and workflow.
- Extensive hours and weekends may be required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One to two years of supervisor experience, custodial or related experience; equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in janitorial maintenance and supplies.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Experience in diverse community interactions and relationship building.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and understanding of organizational structure and workflow.
- Pre-employment screening required: criminal background check and drug testing.
