Crew Lead - Tree Climber

The General Tree Care Team are the muscle of our operation. These industrial athletes work together to provide high-quality tree care, helping to maintain and preserve the overall health of our clients’ landscapes.

Responsibilities

The Tree Care team applies expertise in climbing, pruning, and safety to ensure the health and well-being of each client’s landscape. A day in this role involves working together on a General Tree Care crew to provide high quality tree care to our clients, including all aspects of pruning, removals, cable bracing and other concepts related to tree care.

• Provide high-quality tree care to clients
• Work together on a General Tree Care crew
• Perform pruning, removals, cable bracing, and other tree care concepts
• Safely operate equipment and perform assigned job tasks
• Provide excellent service to clients

Requirements

We are looking for someone with experience in proper pruning practices, tree and shrub species identification, and tree care safety standards. The ideal candidate will also have practical knowledge of chainsaw and equipment operation, and experience with aerial lifts.

• Experience with proper pruning practices, including large shade trees and ornamentals
• Ability to identify native and introduced tree and shrub species
• Ability to climb without spurs
• Experience with tree care safety standards
• Practical knowledge of chainsaw and equipment operation
• Experience with aerial lifts (bucket truck)

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate additional competencies in all areas of knowledge for designated skill level, including advanced understanding of safety policies and procedures, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients.

• Demonstrate advanced understanding of safety policies and procedures
• Communicate effectively with clients
• Utilize specialized equipment properly for climbing (ropes, saddle, ladders)
• Apply knowledge of branch collars and proper pruning cuts
• Demonstrate knowledge of different tree species and climbing techniques

Skills

The ideal candidate will have a range of skills, including the ability to safely operate equipment, climb trees, and perform aerial rescue if needed.

• Safely operate equipment, including chainsaws and aerial lifts
• Climb trees without spurs
• Perform aerial rescue if needed
• Drop trees and use ropes for take down
• Identify potential need to use spikes

Pay

This position pays up to $38 per hour, depending on years of experience, plus paid PTO, paid benefits, and 401K.
