About the role
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be on the truck, in the field, and directly involved in ensuring our customers have a great experience. You will help manage the daily schedule, lead crews, communicate with customers, sell and close jobs, keep trucks operating safely, and ensure the team performs at a high level.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Team
- Motivate, coach, and lead crew members throughout the day.
- Set the tone for professionalism, effort, communication, and customer service.
- Help train teammates on job flow, pricing, customer interaction, truck operations, and safety.
- Hold the team accountable while maintaining a positive, team-first environment.
- Communicate regularly with ownership about team performance, customer issues, job updates, and operational needs.
- Deliver Great Customer Service
- Speak with customers professionally and respectfully on every job.
- Help customers feel comfortable with the process from estimate to completion.
- Listen to customer needs, explain options clearly, and solve problems on-site.
- Ensure every customer receives a high-quality Junk King experience.
- Sell and Close Jobs
- Provide on-site estimates using our volume-based pricing model.
- Educate customers on pricing, services, and the value of using Junk King.
- Confidently handle objections, upsell when appropriate, and close jobs professionally.
- Help teammates improve their customer service and sales skills.
- Manage Daily Logistics
- Make smart decisions throughout the day around routes, job timing, truck space, disposal runs, and customer communication.
- Keep the schedule moving while maintaining quality and safety.
- Cookorate with other crews and ownership when jobs change, run long, or require additional support.
- Use downtime productively for marketing drop-offs, truck organization, customer follow-up, or operational improvements.
- Own Truck Operations and Safety
- Safely operate Junk King trucks at all times.
- Ensure daily truck inspections are completed.
- Monitor truck cleanliness, maintenance needs, equipment, and overall readiness.
- Lead by example on safe lifting, property protection, loading, disposal, and driving.
- Make sure the team follows safety expectations on every job.
- Perform Junk Removal Work
- Help remove and haul items such as couches, mattresses, appliances, furniture, yard waste, construction debris, and other non-hazardous materials.
- Work in homes, apartments, businesses, government sites, garages, offices, and commercial properties.
- Protect customer property while completing jobs efficiently.
- Support Marketing and Brand Building
- Represent the Junk King brand professionally in the field.
- Make sure trucks have the proper marketing materials for drop-offs and customer opportunities.
- Look for ways to build relationships with customers, businesses, property managers, and repeat accounts.
- Help grow the company’s reputation through great service, reviews, referrals, and professional presentation.
Qualifications
- 1–4 years of experience managing or leading a team preferred.
- Experience leading at least 3 direct reports preferred.
- Strong customer service and people skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Sales and/or operations experience is a plus.
- Able to problem-solve in the field.
- Able to lift 75 lbs.
- Clean driving record required for insurance purposes.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Positive attitude and desire to grow with the company.
