3 positions available – Full Time (40 hrs per week) – Reports to: Assistant Distribution Superintendent – Location: Corporate Office, 420 S. Doolittle Road, Edinburg, TX 78542
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in probing for water lines and meters for repair, maintenance, and installation.
- Inspect work areas to determine type of work required, materials, and equipment needed for installations and layouts.
- Provide guidance and direction to crew on projects such as shoveling and probing areas to maintain or repair.
- Operate equipment such as backhoes and ditch diggers; train crew members in proper use and maintenance.
- Review assigned job schedules for the crew and estimate man-hours needed for completion.
- Work with the Field Supervisor to monitor and enforce Safety policies.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Participate in job-specific training and other required corporate training programs.
- Comply with federal and state regulations and all established corporate policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- At least one year of prior experience as a Crew Helper or related position.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions.
- Current Texas Driver License and must be insurable by the Corporation’s insurance underwriter.
- Must obtain a Class C Water Distribution License through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) within 12 months of hire.
- Must complete the following certifications within 6 months of hire: Utility Safety, Unit I Basic Water, Unit 5 Distribution, Shoring School, Waste Water I & II, and Customer Service Inspection.
- Good communication skills to effectively present information to employees and management.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal).
- Basic mathematics skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) for calculations related to monetary purposes or weight measurement.
- Good judgment and discretion in daily duties.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during the workweek and be on call 24 hours a day.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work submerged in water and mud as needed for pipe repair/installation and meter installation/location.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and balance.
- Frequently lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
- Vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Exposure to loud noise levels.
Preferences
- Class A CDL is highly preferred.
- Prior experience working with a water supply corporation or public utility is preferred.
- Current Class C Water Distribution License and Customer Service Inspection license through TCEQ is preferred upon hire.
