Crew Chief - Surveying

Job Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction plans and maps (i.e., site plans, boundary plans, highway plans, profile and cross sections, horizontal and vertical curves, pipeline plans, foundation plans, and map contours)
• Directs and coordinates field work for a variety of standard types of surveys
• Performs and/or checks computations/construction plans
• Trains Rod Technician and Instrument Technician in the use and application of a Total Station, Robotic Total Station, Data Collectors and RTK GPS
• Accurately calculates and records field data
• Keeps, reduces, and checks (for completeness and accuracy) neat and orderly field notes for standard surveying operations (i.e., leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, and cross-section surveys)
• Enforces Company safety procedures and policies for survey field operations
• Implements procedures for checking and verifying calibration of equipment being used

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED; Specialized vocational training is a plus.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Survey Crew or Party Chief, responsible for a field crew in surveying.
• Must have a basic knowledge and understanding of construction plans and maps.
• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Must have a willingness and ability to lift 50 lbs, work outside for 8 to 10 hours per day, and walk 2 miles.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members, co-workers, supervisors, and others.
