Crew Chief, Managed Aircraft

About the Role

The Crew Chief (“CC”) is crucial to the serviceability, reliability, and availability of the aircraft. The CC receives strategy, guidance, support, and solutions from Maintenance and works directly with the MCC, Procurement, Technical Services, and Planning Teams to ensure the smooth operation of the aircraft they are responsible for. The CC plays a critical role in minimizing aircraft downtimes, quickly rectifying unscheduled maintenance, and ensuring the flight crew and owner of the aircraft are satisfied with the service levels rendered. As a Crew Chief with Vista America, you will push the boundaries of service and excellence as part of a global team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high standards of aircraft availability and reliability.
• Work closely with the assigned flight crew to address and communicate issues in a timely manner.
• Liaise with Base and Line Maintenance Planners for effective long- and short-range forecasting of scheduled and discretionary maintenance events.
• Provide critical feedback to optimize scheduling of aircraft downtimes for maximum availability while ensuring timely maintenance.
• Collaborate with MCC Controllers, Planners, and maintenance service providers to achieve efficient aircraft downtimes.
• Perform and/or oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to ensure the timely and safe return to service of the aircraft.
• Participate in periodic reviews of scheduled maintenance events with the Planning Team to align with approved maintenance programs and operational demands.
• Work closely with MCC Controllers to resolve unscheduled maintenance events and schedule line maintenance, including rectification of MEL items.
• Ensure maintenance tracking software is up-to-date and accurate, providing feedback to the Director of Managed Aircraft.
• Review work packages for completeness and efficient use of aircraft downtime.
• Ensure timely compliance with fleet campaigns, Airworthiness Directives, and mandatory Service Bulletins.
• Review Long-Range Planners’ analysis of supplier proposals and provide recommendations to the Director of Managed Aircraft.
• Collaborate with the Technical Services Team to provide feedback on maintenance programs and reliability efforts.
• Work with the Director of Managed Aircraft to develop more efficient and effective processes.
• Coach and mentor less-experienced Crew Chiefs and supporting team members.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Holder of an FAA A&P certificate with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
• Minimum of 3 years leading maintenance teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Holder of an FAA A&P certificate with AI approval and a minimum of 8 years’ experience.
• Successfully completed aircraft type training for assigned aircraft type.
• 5+ years of leading maintenance teams.
