Crew - Assistant Coach

About the role

The Scarsdale Public Schools are seeking a dynamic and team-oriented individual who exhibits a love of learning and a genuine interest in the social, emotional, mental, and physical health of student-athletes. Applicants should demonstrate expert content knowledge and success in coaching Crew at the high school level. An ideal candidate will understand the benefits of an educational interscholastic athletic experience with a specific focus on player growth development.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to assist in the organization and supervision of a crew program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in crew.
• Has substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
• Serves as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.
• Reports To The Athletic Director and Varsity Head Coach.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Scarsdale Public Schools' Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation by the entire staff of the sports program.
• Has knowledge of existing system, state, and league regulations and implements them consistently.
• Aids in the preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times.
• Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration in student athletes the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
• Makes sure student athletes' grades and conduct are monitored.
• Fulfills procedures concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
• Aids in the management and use of equipment and instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property.
