Responsibilities

  • Working closely and collaboratively with JERAGM's Senior Manager, Credit Risk, based in Singapore, to ensure consistency in approach, platform and output for all Credit assessments and reports in Houston office;
  • Leading credit risk related requests globally but primarily from US offices, overseeing risks, rating, limit and mitigation assessments for new and existing counterparties.
  • Overseeing (but at times being directly involved in) the review process and write-ups, and reviewing outputs to ensure that credit risk assessments are complete, relevant and insightful;
  • Reviewing and approving limit and counterparties proposals under delegated authority, or escalating appropriately in accordance with internal risk mandate;
  • Leading the Credit Risk team in Houston office, and as appropriate, providing guidance and oversight for the Credit Risk team members;
  • Managing relationship with GMA Front Office (Originators & Traders) ensuring commercial and credit risk interests are understood and reconciled;
  • Understanding, shaping and supporting the modelling of potential credit exposure of new and existing transactions;
  • Working with the Legal team in the negotiation of credit terms and covenants in commodity trading and service agreements (NAESB, ISDA, transport agreement, etc.) as well as credit supports (letters of credit, parent company guarantee, insurances, etc.) directly with counterparties, credit support providers, in collaboration with and support of JERAGM / GMA's Legal and the Commercial Origination teams;
  • Identifying and monitoring market trends and emerging events that could potentially impact the credit standing of entities within the counterparty portfolio and/or credit exposures and identify actions to mitigate risks;
  • Overseeing and supporting the computation and reporting of key credit risk indicators (credit reserves, credit risk capital, etc.) to JERAGM's VP, Risk and Senior Management and Shareholders on a periodic or ad hoc basis, as required;
  • Contributing to the development of new policies, qualitative and quantitative credit risk frameworks and IT tools.

Qualifications

  • Experience Around 15 years or more of experience in a credit analyst/manager/senior manager position gained within a commodities trading environment or financial institution;
  • Experience in leading teams, managing junior resources and overseeing projects;
  • Professional experience in at least one of our energy products, specifically US Gas and Power, is a requirement, and exposure to Coal, Dry-bulk freight, LNG and/or LNG freight will be a strong advantage;
  • Professional experience in negotiating contractual terms (supported by the Legal team) and in crafting relevant, insightful, and concise credit documentations will be a strong advantage;
  • Technical Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification;
  • Excellent financial, qualitative and credit analysis skills;
  • Good negotiation skills and understanding of contractual frameworks;
  • Knowledge of US Gas and Power, and knowledge of Coal, LNG and Freight products as a plus;
  • Understanding of KYC and AML processes and requirements and the inter-dependencies with the Credit Process is key;
  • Fluency in English - both written and verbal compulsory;
  • Understanding of CubeLogic system is a plus;
  • Experience and understanding of S&P IQ capital is a plus;

  • Computer literate, numerate, and comfortable handling varied and complex data sets;
