Duties
- Accepts transactions to be booked in the branch.
- Veto transactions to be included for approval into committees and rejects transactions that do not meet BCI Miami standards.
- Provides guidance and direction to his team, setting performance standards and supervising performance.
- Identifies developmental needs of subordinates through coaching, mentoring, and providing constructive feedback.
- Ensures adherence to legal and company policies and undertakes disciplinary actions if necessary.
- Concludes if credit facilities meet sound underwriting standards and do not pose greater than normal risk.
- Reviews, presents, and prepares credit proposals with respective analysis of financial statements for every credit customer to be presented to credit committee.
- Manages a group of analysts by directing and coordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives, and policies.
- Mentors and guides subordinates and other employees.
- Coordinates and recommends revisions of policies, procedures, and agreements to ensure compliance with current regulations.
- Suggests programs to ensure accomplishment of business plans for growth and profit.
- Escalates risk on complex loan credit facilities or unexpected market conditions to senior management.
- Participates in or facilitates committees related to risk management and quality improvement.
- Monitors and analyzes pertinent information after approval into our online system.
- Maintains oversight of respective approvals from Head Office.
- Monitors and traces credit line openings, deletions, and renewals into our system.
- Ongoing review of credit files to ensure completeness and creditworthiness.
- Traces missing information and actively participates in audits conducted by internal auditors, external asset quality reviews, and regulators.
- Assists Head Office with information and ratings of customers in North and South America.
- Maintains ongoing monitoring of the financial performance of credit customers.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of commercial underwriting, including corporate (focus LATAM), CRE, and private banking lending.
- Knowledge of loan policies and credit risk policies and procedures.
- Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English and Spanish.
- Effectively speaking before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to operate IBM compatible personal computers; fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of coursework and work experience.
- At least 10 years of related experience.
