Credit Recovery Tutor

Job Summary

The Granite Connection High School Credit Recovery Learning Lab is open to any student in Granite School District and provides credit assistance. Tutors also assist adult students to prepare to complete diploma or GED requirements. Tutors in the Credit Recovery Learning Lab follow guidelines of the Credit Recovery Project in administering assessments and evaluating work.

Essential Functions

• Advise high school and adult students as they work towards earning a high school diploma
• Aid students with assignments
• Evaluate, correct, and grade student work
• Keep accurate records of student progress for up to 48 students at one time
• Collaborate with colleagues in the classroom
• Communicate with students, parents, and program supervisors in the high school and adult programs
• Answer questions regarding student progress, Learning Lab services, and direct callers to appropriate education professionals for program referrals

Non-Essential Functions

• Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge and Skills

• A good working knowledge of required high school curriculum, especially math, science, and language arts
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to motivate students to achieve goals
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills
• Ability to work without direct supervision

Required Education and Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Some college experience preferred
• Bilingual skills preferred
