About the role

Prepares spreads and other preliminary financial analysis. Supports renewal and annual reviews of existing loans in the Corporate and CRE portfolio. Ensures credit quality is maintained through identification of key risk factors associated with each loan and determines if those factors are mitigated. Analyzes the viability of the repayment sources, assesses the appropriateness of the current loan grade, and reviews prior and conditional approval and all loan documents to ensure borrowers' compliance with the terms of the loan.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with managers and officers of supported line of business production units (Corporate Lending, Specialty Lending, Commercial Lending, CRE, Bridge Funding, etc.) to determine ongoing priorities for loans under analysis. Adjusts priorities as appropriate with supervisor input.
  • Maintains an up-to-date pipeline detailing the status of all loans under analysis.
  • Prepares credit analysis reports of varying complexity based on experience level, from simple transactions (CPA I) to the largest and most complex lending relationships (CPA III). Includes recommendations for modified structure or collateral, and may recommend non-renewal or downgrade if warranted.
  • Determines key risk factors for assigned loans and assesses whether these are appropriately mitigated.
  • Prepares financial statement spreads for officers in supported units to evaluate early-stage credit proposals.
  • Ensures compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and other applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements, including anti-money laundering laws (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act).
  • Participates in and may lead ad hoc project assignments as directed by management.
  • Adheres to Bank policies and procedures, completes required training, and reports suspicious activity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field or an acceptable alternative field.
  • 0–2 years of experience as a credit analyst, with involvement in analyzing complex credits in corporate lending and commercial real estate to progress to the next level.

Skills

  • Strong accounting skills developed through formal college undergraduate courses (through intermediate accounting) or equivalent alternatives such as AIB.
  • Demonstrated good credit judgment.
