About the role

TrustBank is seeking a Credit Analyst to evaluate the creditworthiness and risk of applicants across commercial, real estate, agricultural, and consumer lending portfolios. The role analyzes financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, credit reports, collateral, and other relevant information to assess repayment capacity, financial trends, and emerging risks. The Credit Analyst prepares detailed credit presentations and risk-rating recommendations while ensuring compliance with internal credit policies, loan administration procedures, and regulatory requirements. The role works closely with loan officers, clients, and other bank partners and uses banking technology, data-driven analysis, and approved AI-assisted resources while maintaining independent judgment and prudent credit decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze credit quality and risk using financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, collateral values, and independent research.
  • Prepare financial spreads, ratio analyses, and cash flow models.
  • Develop comprehensive credit presentations covering repayment capacity, collateral, loan-to-value calculations, strengths, weaknesses, and risks.
  • Collaborate with loan officers to evaluate client needs, loan structure, and pricing.
  • Communicate directly with clients as needed.
  • Ensure credit analysis and presentations comply with internal credit policies, loan administration procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Document policy and documentation exceptions and prior-to-close conditions.
  • Assign and recommend credit risk ratings according to Loan Policy guidelines.
  • Participate as a non-voting member of Loan Committee meetings.
  • Exercise sound judgment when determining whether confidential information should be furnished or refused.
  • Identify irregular or suspicious transactions and take appropriate action to help prevent losses.
  • Support compliance with BSA/AML/OFAC requirements.
  • Assist with annual loan reviews and portfolio monitoring.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Review construction loan draw requests, appraisal reports, and environmental reports as needed.
  • Use approved banking technology and AI-assisted resources to support research, reporting, and workflow efficiency.
  • Perform additional credit department responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a focus in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of related professional experience.
  • Advanced analytical and risk assessment skills.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, economics, and credit analyst techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Excellent report writing, grammar, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to produce clear and professional credit presentations.
  • Ability to review work and identify errors in analysis, presentations, and reporting.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Broad understanding of loan policy, loan operations, and banking procedures.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Ability to use Excel formulas, pivot tables, financial models, data analysis tools, and reporting features.
  • Understanding of the bank's core processing system and ability to use it to assemble data and generate reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a commercial banking environment.
  • Additional coursework, certifications, or experience in financial analysis, business intelligence, data analytics, credit risk management, or banking technology.
  • Experience with emerging AI-enabled productivity solutions.
  • Experience with commercial, real estate, agricultural, or consumer credit analysis.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, typically 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Minimum 40 hours per week. Longer hours may be required based on job demands. Hybrid work arrangement with the possibility of remote work based on candidate qualifications and the needs of the Bank and credit team.

Location: Olney, Illinois, United States. Ability to travel by air, rail, automobile, and/or bus if required.

Pay

$65,000–$90,000 total compensation.
