About the role
The Credit Coordinator is responsible for managing an assigned accounts receivable portfolio by driving collections activities, resolving customer account issues, and ensuring compliance with credit and lien requirements. This role partners closely with branches, sales teams, and customers to protect company assets, improve cash flow, and deliver exceptional customer service while supporting the overall financial health of the business.
Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned portfolio of customer accounts and perform collection activities to minimize aged receivables and improve cash flow.
- Utilize automated collection tools and systems to prioritize and manage collection efforts efficiently.
- Create and approve payment plans for delinquent customers within established authority limits.
- Process and approve lien waivers and review lien and bond filing deadlines to protect collectability of accounts.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal lien and bond regulations for assigned branches.
- Reconcile short payments, unapplied cash, and account discrepancies.
- Investigate and resolve customer disputes in partnership with branch and sales teams.
- Facilitate placement of accounts with collection agencies and recommend appropriate actions when necessary.
- Maintain customer sales tax exemption certificates and related documentation.
- Communicate regularly with branches, sales representatives, and regional leadership regarding collection activities and account status.
- Conduct customer visits when needed to strengthen relationships and support collections efforts.
- Complete assigned tasks within established service level expectations.
- Contribute positively to team objectives and uphold company values.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and skills commonly found in someone with 2+ years of collections, accounts receivable, or credit experience.
- Experience working in a distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, or business-to-business environment preferred.
- Demonstrated customer service experience and ability to handle difficult conversations professionally.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge and skills commonly found in someone with 3-5 years of business-to-business collections experience preferred.
- Construction industry experience and understanding of lien and bond processes.
- Experience with automated collections software such as GetPaid or similar platforms.
- Experience managing customer portfolios and resolving complex account disputes.
- Familiarity with sales tax exemption documentation and compliance requirements.
- A degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
