About the Role

The Credit Control team is hiring a specialist. This role requires a well-rounded, adaptable candidate who can master product knowledge and bank underwriting guidelines to ensure the completeness and accuracy of credit applications. It is also partially operational, designed to create efficiency within the team's day-to-day responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Review borrowing bases and credit applications to ensure accuracy against legal documents.
  • Find data and evidence from various sources, including legal documents, for verification and evidentiary support.
  • Provide feedback to Coverage Teams on their submissions, confirm client-based information, and organize data for the GBR input team.
  • Reformat applications as necessary and rewrite/rephrase sections to meet the most recent guidelines and requests from Credit Officers.
  • Build and foster rapport with Coverage Teams and Credit Officers to maximize process efficiency.
  • Identify bottlenecks and issues for process improvements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Credit underwriting knowledge, preferably for subscription finance.
  • Fast learner with a high degree of problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of applications and data points with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to develop rapport with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Willingness to adapt to the ever-changing bank environment.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $110,000.00 and $125,000.00. The specific salary offered will be based on individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in the candidate's geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award.

Schedule

SMBC’s employees participate in a Hybrid workforce model, providing an opportunity to work from home and from an SMBC office. Employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their office location. Prospective candidates will learn more about their specific hybrid work schedule during the interview process. Note that hybrid work may not be permitted for certain roles, such as FINRA-registered positions requiring in-office attendance for the entire workweek.
