About the role
The Credit Associate is an intermediate colleague responsible for supporting credit analysis and portfolio management activities. This role involves assisting with credit data analysis, underwriting, and portfolio review activities including facilitating credit risk recommendation. The Credit Associate may be assigned a book of lower-complexity loans and relationships and collaborates with team members to ensure effective credit operations while maintaining high standards of credit quality and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Support the underwriting and management of cash-flow and asset-based loans ≥$25.0 million for the national Food & Beverage (“F&B”) platform across sponsor and strategic channels.
- Target Borrower profiles (private and public) with EBITDA >$10.0 million and Revenue >$200.0 million.
- Handle structures including revolvers, term loans, delayed draw term loans, and CAPEX lines across multiple product lines.
- Transaction types include leveraged buyouts, management buyouts, refinances, growth capital, recapitalizations, and add-on acquisitions.
- Support due diligence efforts as Agent or Participant for Borrowers across the F&B value chain (manufacturers, processors, distributors, grocers, etc.).
- Perform historical and projected financial statement analysis, dynamic 3-statement financial modeling, and credit memorandum preparation.
- Support the management of a portfolio of Borrowers across multiple F&B subsectors with various structures, roles, commitments, and risk ratings.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews covering financial performance, risk ratings, capacity to repay, and covenants.
- Evaluate credit requests to assess creditworthiness and prepare corresponding approval memorandums.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Finance, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of progressively increasing credit underwriting and portfolio management experience in relevant industry/industries.
Qualifications
- Intermediate experience (ideally 3+ years underwriting) in credit management and lending operations, with a strong understanding of risk management principles.
- Strong desire to learn advanced underwriting and portfolio management skills, actively seeking professional growth and development.
- Effective risk management practices, maintaining high standards of credit quality and origination aligned with the Bank’s credit risk appetite and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Intermediate analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.

Pay
Starting base salary: $34.55 - $55.19 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
Locations: NYC, Los Angeles, Walnut Creek, or San Francisco.
