About the role

The Complex Credits Group is a specialist rating team within the broader Corporate, Infrastructure and Project Finance group. The broader infrastructure ratings team covers approximately 800 credits across transportation, power & energy, social, digital and water infrastructure, as well as sports facilities and UK whole business securitization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ratings analysis and research on both new and existing transactions.
  • A core focus of the role is to lead complex new project finance digital infrastructure ratings.
  • Evaluate innovative credit structures, lead transaction screening initiatives on complex transactions and participate in global rating criteria development.
  • Identify and research relevant trends, assessing their credit impact and highlighting these trends in updated industry and market focused reports/presentations.
  • Gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and legal documents for the purpose of producing ratings, publishing credit reports, and contributing to special research reports.
  • Interact with other Fitch analytical groups to develop rating approaches and criteria to bespoke projects.
  • Maintain a strong external network and profile as a senior analytical representative that continues to build Fitch's reputation for analytical excellence by representing Fitch in a compelling and persuasive manner at industry conferences, webinars, issuer meetings/site visits, banker and sponsor meetings and through media communication.
  • Mentor junior members of the Corporate, Infrastructure & Project Finance team.

Requirements

The role requires a Bachelor's degree at minimum, with an advanced degree being preferred. Ten or more years of relevant experience in a capital markets and/or credit analysis role are required. A healthy sense of intellectual curiosity and a life-long learning mindset are essential, along with a demonstrated willingness and ability to attack and explain topics of analytical complexity. Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills are necessary, as is excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to shift fluidly between multiple projects as priorities change and to excel in a team-oriented environment is also crucial.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience covering the infrastructure, project finance or structured credit sector and focusing on credit risk assessment, whether on the buy-side, sell-side, a credit department at a bank, or another rating agency.
  • The ability to effectively and constructively challenge existing mindsets to assist the group in formulating innovative rating approaches on complex credits, sectors or topics.
  • Employee management experience a plus, including a track record in supporting others’ development and career progression.

Skills

The ideal candidate should possess a strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational background, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. They should also be able to maintain a strong external network and profile, and mentor junior members of the team.

Pay

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $190,000 and $230,000. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors.
