Credit Analyst I - Regional Commercial Banking

About the role

The Credit Analyst I conducts in-depth industry and financial analysis of existing and potential borrowers, supporting the Lending and Credit functions of the Bank.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic financial analysis of less complex loans, industries, and customers; work is reviewed and monitored by lead staff.
  • Develop a basic understanding of loan risk factors.
  • Research industry-specific information from outside sources, including conversations with borrowers, industry publications, libraries, other banks, credit agencies, and the Internet.
  • Participate in customer meetings and make direct inquiries for specific customer information based on prior research, experience, and knowledge (may require occasional travel).
  • Serve as an integral part of the loan origination process, performing underwriting analysis of borrower’s character, creditworthiness, and financial condition.
  • Support the lending function by providing analytical support.
  • Prepare insightful and timely approval memorandums for presentation to appropriate lending and credit authorities.
  • Analyze financial statements, management profiles, business and product cycles, cash flow ability, collateral, agings, etc., of future and existing customers to identify trends, measure performance, assess financial strength, and develop an assessment of credit risk.
  • Maintain credit files, monitor data such as updated financial statements, and prepare updated analysis memos.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide written analysis identifying deviations from the Company Commercial Loan Policy and become familiar with alternative structures to reduce credit risk.
  • Achieve operational performance standards in quality and timeliness.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of credit and financial analysis techniques.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Developed PC skills, including proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of credit and customer information.
  • Good interpersonal skills and team orientation.

Pay

$25.75 - $38.50 USD per hour. TD is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities. The base pay offered may vary based on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs.
