About the role
This is a 4-month, remote contract role (40 hours/week) for a personal-finance company that offers financial products, educational content, and tools on a digital platform. Candidates must reside in the US within the EST, CST, or MST time zones.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze small-business loan applications, including tax returns, balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and debt schedules.
- Audit borrower files to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with bank credit requirements.
- Perform financial spreading and identify key risks, strengths, and inconsistencies in borrower financials.
- Support credit decisioning by flagging issues, missing documentation, or follow-up questions for internal teams.
- Manage assigned files within the credit pipeline to meet defined SLAs and turnaround times.
- Serve as a credit-support resource to Sales and Relationship Managers to help prepare files for downstream review.
- Maintain organized and accurate documentation within internal systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 2+ years of professional experience in Credit, Accounting, Finance, or underwriting-related roles.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze small-business financial statements.
- High attention to detail and comfort working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work independently within clearly defined credit guidelines and processes.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel for financial analysis.
- Prior experience with SMB lending or bank underwriting is a plus.
Pay
Hourly pay range: $25–30/hr (dependent on location and experience).
