About the Role

The Credit Analyst assists the credit team in mitigating credit risk through analysis of the accounts receivable portfolio and works with all customers in an accurate, timely, and professional manner. This position develops strong relationships with new and existing customers, both internal and external, ensuring ongoing successful partnerships. The Credit Analyst plays a pivotal role in the multi-functional Credit department, interacting with many business departments to provide value-added services to both external and internal customers.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure prompt attention to all matters impacting the order-to-cash cycle.
  • Approve or deny credit orders in accordance with established policies, balancing risk and minimizing bad debt losses while maintaining harmonious customer relationships.
  • Apply the company’s credit and collection policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Regularly review the status of collections and conduct ongoing credit risk appraisals of the customer portfolio.
  • Initiate credit limit reviews and solicit financial statements as needed and in compliance with policy.
  • Analyze requests for credit, including financial statements, trade and bank references, and company credit reports to assist in credit decision-making.
  • Represent all aspects of the credit and collection function to ensure optimal use of the operating system.
  • Review and confirm all processes and procedures are working as designed; develop, create, and analyze reports to meet business needs.
  • Submit credit requests beyond the position’s authority to the Credit Supervisor.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to the credit department.
  • Maintain close, harmonious relationships with customers, peers, sales, customer service, and outside sources of credit information.
  • Collaborate with the sales department to resolve disputes, including pricing, quantity, advertising, and promotional allowances.
  • Recommend actions on delinquent accounts and monitor all accounts for potential bad debt write-offs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years in commercial credit.
  • Strong self-starter with solution-oriented skills and good follow-through.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, handling high-volume work, prioritizing multiple tasks, and making decisions with limited information.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate customer credit data and make sound credit decisions.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures.
  • Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), with demonstrated expertise in formulas (VLOOKUP’s), pivot tables, and calendar/time management.
  • Experience with credit scoring using rules and metrics.
  • Ability to present information to colleagues and/or senior management.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with effective listening and response abilities.
  • Teamwork-oriented, working proactively within and across departments to achieve department KPIs and goals.
  • Ability to handle conflict and find resolution.
