About the role

The credit analyst’s primary role is supporting the Portfolio Management team of Firstrust Bank in the credit approval process for new lending opportunities and the renewal process for existing loan customers. The analyst will perform underwriting due diligence and assist in the preparation of the credit memorandum that will be presented to the appropriate credit authority.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze corporate and, to a limited extent, personal financial statements, tax returns, and other financial information provided by the prospect or customer in connection with a new loan request or the renewal/review of existing credit relationships.
  • Interpret and understand balance sheets, income statements, and statements of cash flow. Utilize the information in the testing of financial covenants.
  • Work with the Relationship Manager and Portfolio Manager in the underwriting due diligence and preparation of the underwriting memorandum.
  • At the request of the Portfolio Manager, assist in the preparation of financial projections and sensitivity analysis.
  • Upon the direction of the Relationship Manager or Portfolio Manager, interact with customers and their financial staff and advisors in the completion of underwriting and due diligence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Portfolio Manager Team Leader or Manager.
  • Participate in a comprehensive RMA training program and other mutually beneficial training programs.
  • Participate in a series of “Lunch and Learn” sessions within the bank to learn more about the bank’s capabilities and specialty areas, including outside service partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Preferred one (1) to two (2) years of relevant internship experience in Banking or Financial Services.
  • Demonstrated ability in critical thinking and problem-solving, managing multiple priorities, and being a self-starter.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to collaborate with other team members to deliver results.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
