About the role

Evaluate and determine the credit risks of commercial clients through detailed financial statement analysis, industry assessment, collateral valuation, cash flow analysis, and assessment of the ability to repay annual debt service. Determine the estimated loss or loan loss reserve required to cover the credit risk of impaired commercial credits.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate cash flows and loan loss reserves for legacy loan portfolios by reviewing all pertinent credit and financial information.
  • Assist in the estimation of the Lifetime Loss on the Commercial Loan portfolio.
  • Maintain a general knowledge of accounting pronouncements and their effect on Bank credits, with a specific focus on the Loan Loss Reserve and Troubled Debt Restructures.
  • Coordinate data and processes to support internal and external reporting requirements for Finance, Credit Senior Management, and regulatory reviews.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements of the department.
  • Participate in various departmental projects.
  • Adhere to applicable compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and issues raised by external regulators.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities

The position requires substantial interaction with both internal and external contacts to obtain pertinent information. Acts as a liaison between the department and other business units on various projects, typically interacting with Commercial Banking Relationship Managers and Special Assets. The incumbent works independently with limited supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, and two years of relevant experience, or in lieu of degree, a combined minimum of six years' education and relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $62,200.00 - $103,600.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
