Credentialing Specialist I
Regular full-time position, 80 hours every two weeks, day shift, hourly pay.
About the Role
The Credentialing Specialist I provides high-level, independent support to the Medical Staff Services department and Medical Staff Leadership by facilitating physician onboarding through the initial application and reappointment process. This role involves collecting primary source verifications from multiple entities and analyzing the data to ensure compliance with established criteria, regulatory requirements, and Onvida Health governance documents. The Credentialing Specialist I is responsible for accurately updating data in the department database to ensure data integrity and provides administrative support to the Medical Staff and Department Leadership.
Responsibilities
- Conducts primary source verification of provider applications with multiple entities as outlined in the Medical Staff Services Credentialing Policy and required by applicable regulatory agencies and internal governance documents in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintains the Medical Staff Services database, including responding to questions regarding expiring credentials, uploading renewed credentials, maintaining the database auto-alert system, and ensuring data integrity.
- Maintains a professional demeanor as a representative of the department and the Onvida Health organization.
- Assists providers as needed, in person, through email, or by responding to calls in a timely fashion.
- Maintains positive professional communication, both written and verbal, with the Medical Staff, Administration, and all other Onvida Health staff.
- Processes pre-checks of potential candidates as outlined in the Medical Staff Services Credentialing Policy and works collaboratively with Provider Services to facilitate the pre-check process.
- Maintains records of pre-check data.
- Provides administrative coverage and support as needed, including routine reports, special projects, department meetings, and accounting reconciliation.
- Supports the Credentialing Specialist II to facilitate the reappointment and initial appointment process.
- Collaborates with all team members to ensure accuracy in file completion.
- Assists the Director in assuring compliance with bylaws, policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines; participates and supports quality assurance and performance improvement programs and processes.
- Assists the Director in maintaining budgetary expenses, including purchasing supplies, equipment, and capital items, processing check requests for reimbursements, and maintaining an adequate level of supplies in a cost-effective manner.
Requirements
- High School Equivalency Diploma.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- 1 year of general office experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in Hospital Credentialing/privileging or Provider Enrollment Credentialing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration.
- Certification from the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS).
- Membership in the Arizona Association of Medical Staff Services (AAMSS).
Pay
The base hiring salary range for this position is $20.57 - $30.85 per hour, with actual salaries varying based on factors such as skills and experience. This range is one component of the total rewards/compensation package offered.
